Acne scar removal
Acne is a skin condition that results from tissue damage or injury that is caused by accumulation of sebum and bacteria in the sebaceous follicles. This skin condition has affected approximately 80% of teens and 5% of adults. Its treatment has been successful in most cases; however the condition leaves behind its mark in the form of unpleasant scars which appear like ‘ice picks’ or crater. There are several ways of acne scar removal but I am going to concentrate on three effective ways for fast acne removal
Dermabrasion is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of both the outer layer (epidermis) and the inner layer (dermis) of the skin in a methodical manner in order to prevent the damage of the innermost layer. An electrical machine is used to abrade the skin leaving its surface appearing fresh and smooth. Essentially, it eliminates the injured or damaged dermis which is the main cause of the scars
This type of scar removal involves the use of an acid to peel of the skin. In this case, mild organic acids are normally used as it causes no harm to the skin. Other commonly used chemical are the glycolic and salicylic acid. Before this procedure is carried out, the face should be washed properly. Once applied, the chemicals are left for roughly 20 to 25 minutes. The patients may experience some burning sensation which is normal and lasts for 10-15 minutes
This is usually the last step after all the other treatment options have failed. It involves the use of laser light to burn the damaged skin cells. Laser therapy is ideal for fast removal of acne scars i.e. it takes a very short time. This type of treatment is the most effective though it is relatively expensive. For the case of severe acne, one will require more than one session to achieve complete scar removal
There are several other ways of acne scar removal both dermatological and natural ways. Some of them includes ointments or creams (acne scar creams), collagen injection, autologous fat transfer, punch craft, pureed fruit, Lemon juice and baking powder. All of these methods are effective, fast and easy. However, there are numerous factors that influence the success of these methods;
- Ones overall health, medical history and age
- Type of scars
- The degree of severity of the scar
- One’s preferences or opinion
- Ones tolerance to certain medication, therapies or procedures.
The last two points are mainly for the case of dermatological procedures e.g dermabrasion
In conclusion, acne, zits, and pimples are so tempting to squeeze and pick. Most people usually use pins and fingernail to pick them which only causes more damage to the skin. It is therefore important not to pick or squeeze these scars. Also, squeezing and picking irritates the surrounding skin hence triggering new eruption. Always remember that the more irritation you create the more scars you develop. Proper care and treatment of acne is essential to completely eliminate them.
Best of luck in achieving glowing, clear acne scar free skin.
